Microsoft Word

Word is widely used, but not necessarily widely understood! We will show you super-quick ways of creating, editing and formatting your documents so they look the way YOU want, and contain eye-catching content such as title pages and graphics.


Word Introduction

Duration 1 day
The Word screen: understanding menus and toolbars, understanding the screen layout, ruler and margin display

  1. File basics: creating and opening files, file management techniques, saving files to find them, organising files into folders.
  2. Inputting text: Typing and selecting typed text, using the keyboard and mouse to make selection quicker.
  3. Formatting: Changing text, paragraph and page appearance. Columns, and Tabs, bullets and numbered lists.Text alignment and indents.
  4. Headers and Footers: Inserting data onto every page, e.g. current date and page number.
  5. Printing: Using Print Preview, altering page layouts and orientation.
  6. Tools: Using the spelling and grammar checkers, Find and Replace to make multiple alterations quick and simple.

 

Word Intermediate

  1. Advanced formatting: Using Styles to keep formats constant, using Tables, using Autotext to speed up text entry
  2. Keyboard Shortcuts: Quick ways of performing repetitive tasks.
  3. Desktop publishing: Spicing up documents with graphics, watermarks, photos, columns, page borders and WordArt.
  4. Mail Merging: Sending out a personalised letter to many recipients, using Word or Excel as an address database.
  5. Templates: Using templates to avoid having to do the hard work, just fill in the new information and save.
  6. Envelopes and Labels: Producing individual or a whole sheet of address labels.

 

Word Advanced

Duration 1 day

  1. Reviewing: Inserting, accepting and rejecting revisions and comments. Saving versions of a document for multiple users.
  2. Outlines and Long Documents: Outline view, bookmarks and cross references, inserting a Table of Contents and an Index.
  3. Inserting objects from other programs: Inserting an Excel spreadsheet a Microsoft Graph and an Organisation Chart into a Word document
  4. Forms: Text fields, check boxes and drop down fields, protecting forms from unwanted data entry.
  5. Macros: Recording and running a macro, assign the a macro to a shortcut key, toolbar button or menu.
  6. Graphics Inserting and modifying objects. Copy and Group graphics.

 

Microsoft Excel

Probably the most used, and useful, application used in any organisation today, Excel empowers you to quickly and efficiently analyse data.  We will  show you how to organise large amounts of data, produce professional charts and graphs, and perform calculations with speed and with ease.-

We will show you, in detail, via hands-on problem solving sessions, how to use Microsoft Project to quickly plan, schedule and monitor a project. Using tasks and resources, you'll learn how to monitor work, costs and budgets, and track progress and slippage on the plan.
